Part of Screenshot tool
Why RecBeam is the best fit
- One click captures the tab you are viewing. Or pick a window or your entire screen through Chrome's picker.
- A complete annotation editor. Crop, pen, arrows, lines, rectangles, ellipses, text and highlight, with undo and redo.
- Blur private details. A pixelate tool hides names, emails and numbers before you share.
- Share instantly. Download a PNG, or upload and copy a private, unlisted link.
- Free. The annotation editor is part of the free Starter plan, and screenshots never use up your video allowance.
- Same library as your recordings. Capture a still when a picture says it faster and record when it does not.
Eight checks that matter
| Check | Why it matters | RecBeam |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Capture modes | You should capture what you need, not the whole desktop. | One click captures the current tab. Chrome's picker captures a chosen window or your entire screen. |
| 2. Cropping | Trim to the part that matters. | Crop is built into the editor. |
| 3. Annotation tools | Marking up is what makes a screenshot explain itself. | Pen, arrows, lines, rectangles, ellipses, text and highlight. |
| 4. Privacy blur | Screenshots often include names, emails or numbers. | A pixelate tool blurs sensitive information before you share. |
| 5. Undo and redo | Mistakes happen while annotating. | Full undo and redo without losing the original capture. |
| 6. Output | You need a file or a link. | Download a PNG, or upload and copy a private, unlisted share link. |
| 7. Permissions | A screenshot tool should not see more than it needs. | Tab capture happens only when you choose it, for that one tab, and lapses when you navigate. No content scripts. |
| 8. Price | Annotation should not be a paid upgrade. | The annotation editor is included in the free Starter plan. |
Where it fits
- QA: capture the failing screen and mark what is wrong. See how to write a bug report.
- Support: show a customer exactly which button or field to use.
- Design feedback: point at the pixel that needs to change.
- Training: build annotated reference material once and reuse it.
The full feature list is on the screenshot tool page.
What to know
RecBeam captures through Chrome, so it handles the tab, window or screen that Chrome's picker offers. It does not advertise scrolling full-page capture, so check that if you need it. Deleting a screenshot immediately breaks its link.
A fast workflow
- Click the RecBeam icon and choose Capture this tab.
- Crop to the area that matters.
- Add an arrow and a short text callout, and pixelate anything private.
- Copy the share link, or download the PNG.
